A Club Of Our Own is a tale of belonging, confidence, and friendship, ideal for children aged 5-9.

Authored by Gina de Vettori, this book follows a little girl, Faith, who struggles with loneliness. She feels something is wrong with her because she has no friends. So, she decides to set a new goal for herself: to make more friends. Summoning courage, she meets a group of girls and asks to play with them. They tell her, no, they were four and perfect already. Lonely and hurt, the little girl soon meets Joyce. Joyce is kind and has also been rejected by the mean girls. Soon, they become friends, start a club for misfits, and learn valuable lessons along the way.

A Club of Our Own has lots of lessons for young readers. The first lesson is demonstrated by the little girl. She aimed to make friends and dared to push through even when the girls she met were not welcoming. Joyce showed kindness and a positive attitude. Even though the girls had stomped on her feet, she turned the stain into art. The biggest lesson came from their teacher: rather than trying to fit in, you are enough. Tear down self-doubt, build confidence, and be who you want to be. I enjoyed Jet De Vettori’s illustrations. The cute smiley fences and the mischievous animals in the background were fun Easter eggs. This book is perfect for misfits, that is, children who feel like they do not fit in and those being bullied.

Everyone seeks a sense of belonging, and children are no exception. Club of Our Own is a heartwarming picture book that follows a young girl's search for friends.

Written by Gina De Vettori and featuring colorful illustrations by Jet De Vettori, this rhyming tale opens with young Faith preparing for school, determined to meet new friends. Faith arrives at school and sees a clique of four who quickly spurn her efforts to make friends with them. With a heavy heart, Faith draws back but soon meets another young girl named Joyce, who, like Faith, is also interested in art. The two bond over their shared love of art and become fast friends. Now, it's time for other kids to join their "Wolf Pack." Will the clique of four change their ways?

Club of Our Own is a beautiful story that teaches a gentle lesson about self-belief, kindness, and perseverance. Sometimes, it's not easy to make new friends in school, but believing in yourself and having the confidence to express yourself can help you bond with others who share your interests. Gina De Vettori's delightful tale demonstrates that and more. Kids in elementary school will find a lot to love about this book. The characters are adorable. Faith and Joyce's growing friendship is something many young readers will be able to relate to. Jet De Vettori's vibrant artwork breathes life into these characters and makes them even more entertaining to the reader. I thoroughly enjoyed the story. If you're a parent with children in elementary school, I highly recommend this picture book.
